CDA Architects - The Birth of a new Firm

June 26, 1995 - Articles of Incorporation

Well that date may have been just another Monday morning to many people, but to an Architecture firm in North Houston it was unlike any other day.  To tell the entire story though, we must start at a different beginning…

In 1974, Charles Chambliss opened an Architectural office to continue his passion for Architecture and Service to others.  He would start working with clients including Hartz Fried Chicken restaurants, Kroger Grocery stores, Craig’s Cleaners, and many more.  Over the years, the firm would grow to serve many clients in a handful of states and include a staff of 17 people who settled into office in a converted home in the Greenspoint area of north Houston.

By 1995, the firm would outgrow the converted home, and Charles and his wife would make a decision that would launch the firm into an even brighter future.  On June 26, 1995, the Texas Secretary of State would record Articles of Incorporation for Chambliss Design Associates, Inc. d/b/a/ CDA Architects.  In July, the newly named firm moved a little further north close to the Houston area suburb of Spring, Texas.

Over the past 25 years, the firm has grown to nearly 30 people, reduced through an economic recession down to 10, and then bounced back to as many as 17.  Many staff have come and gone through the years and our address has changed twice but the constants through it all have been a commitment to service and well-crafted designs to suit the client’s needs.  We have celebrated careers and retirements for Charles and his wife, along with two other Architects from the firm’s first days.  Ownership changes in 2008 and again in 2013 have further proven that the names and addresses on our business cards can change but the Architecture and Service commitment still remains.

As we find ourselves in 2020, a virus named COVID-19 has stolen all of the headlines and put everything else on a back burner.  Our team has been forced so far to quietly celebrate our Anniversary year.  Well, we have decided the subdued celebration will last no longer.  With a new Website launched and an Anniversary logo introduced, we are shouting from the roof tops of our projects a HUGE THANK YOU to all of our Clients and those that we have served through these years.  We value the relationships that we have built, especially since 1995, with our Clients, Consultants, Colleagues, and friends.  Through it all, we have maintained a high standard of Architecture, Service, and Ethics as we have expanded to numerous other Clients, Industries and geographic locations in nearly 20 states across the country.

We are thankful that we can celebrate with everyone, and look forward to many more years.  What can we design for you?
